Starmont Community School District employed two full-time principals in 2017-2018 who earned an average of $97,836 per year, ranking 159th out of 330 districts in the state, according to a Delaware County Guide analysis of data from the Iowa Department of Education.
District principals make 5.6 percent less than the state annual average of $103,668.
The average salary of full-time public school principals increased by 1.4 percent between 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, according to the Department of Education. Average salaries for male principals was 3.7 percent higher than female principals even though the women had a slightly higher number of advanced degrees and years of experience.
